Lake Superior National Marine Conservation Area Act introduced.

This sounds interesting but, given the timing, I wonder if it is just an election ploy and the bill will die on the table when the writ is dropped.

Sorry. This gov't makes me suspicious whenever they appear to do anything positive for the environment - it's just so out of character.

The proposed Lake Superior National Marine Conservation Area (NMCA) comprises more than 10,000 square kilometres of the lake, and includes lakebed, islands and north shorelands – making it one of the largest freshwater marine protected areas in the world.
