$40M in funding for Ottawa universities and hospitals

I'm always pleased to see money coming from the province. Its important to remember that the feds aren't the only funders of R&D.

The announcement was made at the University of Ottawa, which received $29.7 million for research in areas including cardiology, pediatric diseases, neurodegenerative disorders, stem cell research, chemistry and photonics. Also, about $1.54 million will support a program focussed on northern transportation planning, access to justice for the homeless, and solar energy research.

Other grants include $4.1 million for eight research projects at Carleton University; $140,000 to the Children’s Hospital of Eastern Ontario Research Institute for a research project on inflammatory bowel disease; and $7.1 million to the Ottawa Hospital Research Institute.
