Canadian scientist protest muzzling by government

It's sad that scientists have to protest to get the right to do the job that they are being paid (with taxpayer money) to do. Imagine that - a union protesting because their members want to be *more* efficient. Kinda goes against the whole conservative view of unionized employees, doesn't it.

Peter Bleyer of the Professional Institute of the Public Service of Canada that represents 15,000 scientists and engineers, spelled out the reason for the request for protective contract language in an interview with the Globe and Mail newspaper.

“Our science members said to us: What’s more important than anything else is our ability to do our jobs as professionals,” he said.
