Opinion: Science turned upside down

Yeah. This. In spades.

We have provided examples of the many ways that scientific information is twisted by those with an ulterior motive, often causing immense damage. There are several helpful remedies. We need better science education in schools. The mass media needs to be more active in exposing those who falsify scientific evidence and avoid bowing to industry or government pressure to distort the truth. The public needs to understand that commercialization and politicization of science in North America not only affects academic and scientific freedom, it affects the public’s right to know the truth about things that affect human and environmental health.
