SFU observatory gets $2.7-million gift

At 27" it's not a huge telescope by research standards, but as a teaching and outreach 'scope - that's not bad at all. In fact, I wish *I* had that in my backyard.

Thanks to a $2.7-million gift from the Trottier Family Foundation, the Trottier Observatory and Science Courtyard at SFU’s Burnaby campus is officially opening its doors and telescope to the public, including local astronomers and amateur stargazers, on April 17.

The facility features a large dome housing a 0.7-metre diameter (27-inch) reflector telescope, bigger than the one at the HR MacMillan Space Centre.
