Let’s put politicians to a basic litmus test - op-ed

Hell ya! Let's make sure that science - and the scientific literacy of the candidates - is an issue in the 2015 federal election (and all other elections).

Climate change, disease prevention, genetically-modified foods, invasive species, reproductive matters — there is a long and growing list of issues, some very complex, where science has something to say in how governments shape policy. That won’t change, not in an increasingly technological world.

What needs to change is the lens through which we see those who would decide such policies. Voters need to put their science literacy to work as they screen wannabe legislators.
