Younger immigrants at higher risk of developing inflammatory bowel disease

So IBD appears to be do to environmental factors that are more associated with Western lifestyles than Eastern. So it makes sense that the younger an immigrant is the higher the risk of coming down with IBD. I guess that the next question (which is no doubt being looked at) is "what are the factors that cause IBD?"

Canada has one of the highest rates in the world of IBD and while immigrants to Canada have lower rates of IBD compared to Canadian-born residents, that risk goes up in immigrants who are younger at arrival to Canada. In addition, Canadian-born children of immigrants from some regions have a higher risk of developing IBD.
