Paul Thomas Jenkins Appointed Chair of the National Research Council

This does not bode well for NRC. Since this guys is the architect of the "innovation" focus of government science I expect that we will see a further lesseing of the fundamental research side of things.

I would, however, be happy to apologize if proven wrong.

Mr. Jenkins is Chairman of the Board of OpenText Corporation and has served as a member of its board since 1994. He is an Executive Fellow of the School of Public Policy at the University of Calgary and a member of the Board of Directors of both the C.D. Howe Institute and the Canadian Council of Chief Executives. Mr. Jenkins was the chair of the six-member expert panel that conducted the Review of Federal Support to Research and Development.
