DFO scientists: pesticides used in salmon industry may be hazardous

You see - this is the kind of science that industry is less than enthusiastic to do, and why government science needs to exist and be well funded. I'm actually pleasently surprised that DFO is able to talk about it publically.

Wayne Moore, director general of regulatory science for Fisheries and Oceans Canada, said two reports indicate “there are potential [lethal issues] associated with each product”.

Salmosan, a pesticide currently approved for use in the Bay of Fundy, can be hazardous to lobsters and other species hundreds of meters from a farm, the research conducted at the St. Andrews Biological Station showed.
