U of G researchers receive $1.3 million from CFI

Also receiving funding are:

• Prof. Tariq Akhtar, molecular and cellular biology, $117,687 to establish a plant metabolic biochemistry lab

• Prof. Jonathan Newman, environmental science, $124,671 to study biology, agronomy, ecological invasions and climate change.

• Prof. Scott Ryan, molecular and cellular biology, $251,717 to establish a neurodevelopment and degeneration lab.

The U of G grants are part of a $27 million allocation the Canada Foundation for Innovation is making at 37 universities in Canada. Researchers in Ontario can apply for matching dollars from the province’s Ministry of Research and Innovation.
