Windsor 15 y.o. shortlisted for Intel’s Science Fair

Excellent work and good luck! Now I wonder if I can get a research grant to go on a cruise for inspiration. That's an innovative idea, right?

The 15-year-old air cadet designed five winglets that helped lower drag and improve flight efficiency by 202.3 per cent by breaking up the swirling vortices that increase the drag at the tips of a plane’s wings.

“Watching that bird just gliding in the ship’s vortices was the inspiration,” said Brooks-Da Silva, whose project made her one of only 30 gold medallists at the 2014 Canada Wide Science Fair out of the initial 500,000 high school entrants from across the nation.
